HOW YOU GET HERE, which the level-100 spread on its own will not tell you. The route, and the requirements line up with it exactly: run pure Strength early behind something like the Faithful Bludgeon, which asks for Strength 28 and nothing else and hits for 346 at +10. Ravager Gregory’s Sword needs Strength 30 AND Radiance 30 before you can lift it at all, so it is not an early pickup — once you have it, pour the rest into Radiance until the two match. You end with the hardest two-handed swing in the game and Radiant Weapon on top of it, since that spell needs only Radiance 18 and this spread carries 40. Adyr’s Rage is the other option and it is NOT free here: it wants Inferno 22 against this build’s 8, so it costs fourteen points you would be taking off the sword.
The loadout
The point of the cross is that some weapons scale on both halves of it. Ravager Gregory’s Sword is A+ on Strength AND A+ on Radiance, so every point spent on either goes into the same swing — which is how this build out-hits a pure Strength spread by fifty attack rating while also carrying a spellbook. Both hands take the sword; the third slot takes the catalyst. Radiance 40 is a whole spellbook rather than a scaling stat that happens to be high — at that investment the answer to something out of reach is a spell, and a spellbook brings buffs and a choice of school that no crossbow offers.
1132 attack rating two-handed at +10, Strength / Radiance scaling A+ / A+ , 43.4 weight.
542 spell power at +10 — the highest any catalyst reaches at this spread. It deals no weapon damage itself; every spell multiplies this figure.
A catalyst rather than a crossbow, on a build that swings for a living. At 40 in a caster stat the spellbook is not a consolation prize: it answers range, and it also answers the things a trigger cannot — a buff before a fight, a school an enemy is weak to, a heal. One crossbow does one of those.
Two hands on one weapon still leaves the off-hand slot equipped, and conditional runes apply from it — measured in game at 620 to 788 with three Gravix in an off-hand dagger while two-handing. An empty off-hand is three sockets thrown away. Two-handing, take the Jeffrey's Dagger: *** sockets for 1.9 weight, runes on their damage-increasing weapon function, and you cannot block while both hands are committed anyway. One-handing instead, take the Boar's Head Shield at 3.2: the same runes switch to their shield function — 38 of the 39 do something different there — and you get the block. And it is the best three points on the page: three more Strength is worth +21 attack rating here, while three Gravix in that off-hand is worth +307.
Runners-up worth taking anyway
The pick above wins on attack rating. These are behind on that and ahead on something the rating cannot see.
Is the split free?
80 points across Strength and Radiance, run through Ravager Gregory's Sword. The rating barely moves, which is what makes this cross worth making — the weapon scales on both halves, so the points are interchangeable and the second stat comes free.
