Lords of the Fallen

Status effects

Buildup and resistance are read from the game's own tables. How hard a proc hits is not in them — and this page says so rather than guessing.

How buildup works

Landing hits adds a weapon's buildup figure to a meter on the target. When the meter fills, the status procs and the meter resets. Both halves of that are datamined: every weapon's buildup value, and every enemy's resistance to each status.

Buildup is a flat number. It carries no curve in the game's tables, so upgrading a weapon does not raise it and no attribute scales it — a +0 weapon builds a status exactly as fast as a +10 one. Datamined

How big is a proc?

Buildup is data and is published below. The damage a proc deals is not: every status routes through ExecutionCalculation_Damage, a compiled C++ class, and no coefficient appears in any game asset. It can be measured but never read.

The test that settles it: One source, one status, two targets whose maximum health differs several times over. Frostbite on an Avowed (150 health) against an Abbess (643) or a Husk (900) is a 4x to 6x spread: three similar numbers means the proc is flat, figures that track the health bar means it is proportional. The same shape of test settles smite. Not documented

Bleed

Builds to a threshold, then takes a chunk of health at once.

In the files: Procs through GE_NoPoiseReactionDamage, the same effect an ordinary weapon hit uses, so the burst is a normal damage event rather than a special case. Its CORE asset also resets BuildupBleed on application. Datamined

What is not settled: A deprecated sibling asset, BattleEffect_CORE_StatusEffectBleedOverloadOld, sits beside the live one. Both ship. Only the current one is referenced. Not documented

Also built by: Pulsing Arrows (ammo) , Radiant Arrows (ammo) , Radiant Bolts (ammo) , Lacerating Weapon (spell) , Imbruing Chalice (throwable) . Ammunition declares this in its own damage multipliers; buff spells and flasks hide it in a separate effect, so those were unpublished until 16 Aug.

Frostbite

Builds to a threshold, then bursts. The size of that burst is the open question on this page.

Weapons that build it

Enemy resistance
0 – 1200
Enemies with no resistance

In the files: Procs through GE_NoPoiseReactionDamage, the shared damage effect. Datamined

What is not settled: Read in game as in game as scaling with the target's health, which would make it the strongest status against anything large. The one measured figure argues the other way: Bursting Grub proc'd 174 on an Avowed, whose health is 150 — 116% of the whole bar, which is ordinary overkill for a flat hit rather than a share of maximum health. Worth knowing that the shared damage effect does capture the target's Health, so a proportional component is mechanically available; but every damage event captures it, ignite included, so that proves the mechanism exists and not that frostbite uses it. Unresolved until one source procs it on two targets whose health differs several times over. Community

Measured: 174 on an Avowed, from a Bursting Grub. Verified in game

In the files: Its CORE asset only resets BuildupSmite; the damage sits in GE_StatusEffectSmiteOverload, its own effect rather than the shared one bleed and frostbite use. Datamined

What is not settled: No sighting of no proportional burst on a boss, which rules out the reading frostbite invites. Weapon smite buildup is flat with no curve, so the buildup value is not what scales. That leaves the proc scaling off something on the attacker — weapon damage or Radiance are the obvious candidates — or being flat. Not settled. Not documented

Wither

Not a buildup status like the other six. Wither damage whitens a portion of the health bar instead of removing it, and only converts to real damage if the target is hit again first.

In the files: Carried as a damage type on the weapon rather than a buildup meter, which is why no weapon lists a wither buildup figure while every enemy still carries a wither resistance. Verified in game

What is not settled: Confirmed in game and already modelled: the site keeps wither out of damage totals entirely. Flesh Tide reads 406 on impact — its physical half exactly — with the dark half sitting on the bar in white. Verified in game

Why the proc damage is missing

Every status procs through ExecutionCalculation_Damage, a compiled C++ class in the game binary. The assets say which effect each status uses and what attributes that effect reads; they do not contain the arithmetic. No amount of re-extracting recovers it.

So the figures above stop where the data stops. A site that filled the gap with a plausible number would look more complete and be worth less. Not documented
