Launch several orbs of Umbral magic which explode upon impact.

Hidden lore — revealed in game at high Inferno or Radiance

Umbral magic can be devastatingly injurious to mortal flesh, its fundamental purpose being to impel a being's essence from Axiom to the Umbral realm.

Multipliers of what?

Of the carrier. A ×2.00 fire multiplier means twice the umbral catalyst's fire attack rating — so the same spell produces a different number on every carrier, and on every upgrade level.

The combined figure is not published yet: the multipliers are extracted, but the arithmetic joining them has not been checked against the game.

Measured in game

Five orbs in a spread, around 210 each. That exceeds the orb's own 30% share of spell power before any resistance, so those figures were almost certainly wither bursts rather than impacts. Free-aiming at the ground beneath a large enemy lands the whole spread at once for very high damage. Putrid Child Catalyst +10 at spell power 541, against an Avowed in Pilgrim's Perch.

About that wither damage

Wither is deliberately kept out of the damage figure above. Wither does not take health off. It turns that portion of the bar white — still there, but held.

Land another hit before they hit you and the white converts into real damage. Let them get one in on you first and they heal it straight back. It works on you in exactly the same way, which is the whole trade: wither rewards staying on the offensive and punishes backing off.

This one deals nothing but wither, so on impact it removes no health at all. That is not a weakness — it is the largest number in the game once it lands — but it only pays if you follow it up.

Confirmed in play. The game's tables carry the wither values but say nothing about how they resolve, so the behaviour here comes from watching health bars rather than from extraction.

It explodes

Fires several orbs in a spread that can be free-aimed; aimed at the ground under a large target, all of them connect. Verified in game

So against a group the figure on this page is per enemy caught, not per shot. That is the trade for its cost: it is the least efficient bolt per unit of ammunition and the most efficient one against more than one target.
