Lore
Remembrance of Tancred, Master of Castigations and Reinhold the Immured
A severed tongue.
Hidden lore — revealed in game at high Radiance
As the Rhogar corruption which Tancred so desperately feared took root within the body he shared with Reinhold, so too did greed blossom, a greed not for wealth but for what he was gradually and dreadfully losing to his vengeful brother: control.

The game reveals this in play at high Radiance.
Across the days of torture which eventually ended his life, the blacksmith who had added the face to the rear of Tancred's helm insisted he did so on the knight's orders. Having no memory of such, Tancred declared the claim false, even if he knew the order had been given in his voice. Still, he never had the face removed.

Stigma visions
Stigma — Tormented
ReinholdYou see it in their eyes, don't you.
TancredBe quiet.
ReinholdYou can strut around in your grand armour with your imperious voice and your oh-so-unshakeable faith,
and you can maim and murder anyone our little black heart desires -
TancredI said be quiet!
Reinhold- but you're only embarrassing yourself like some talentless child mummer.
They don't respect you, or fear you, no matter what you do to them.
They all see clearly through your pathetic facade,
to the powerless, hypocritical coward you truly are.
TancredEnough!
ReinholdSshh, sweet brother. You should get some rest...
(chuckles)
Stigma — Speech
TancredLook you men at the wickedness which can take root within the walls
of our own house if we falter in our vigilance, our rigorousness,
for even the briefest moment!
See how malevolence and greed and weakness can twist the souls
of those who once swore a solemn oath and turn them away from the light
of Our Eternal Lady, where they skulk and plot in shadow,
waiting until they can enact their most foul betrayals!
But above all else, heed what will be the fate of all traitors
who submit to sin!
Stigma — Prison
CatrinByron.
Byron.
ByronMm?
CatrinYou passed out for a moment.
ByronOh. Sorry. That bastard Tancred got a bit carried away during our last chat.
But it's for what he's done to you that I'm gonna kill him.
CatrinForget about that.
Do you regret it?
ByronRegret what?
CatrinUs.
ByronNot for a single second. I wouldn't change a thing.
CatrinNot even the capture and torture?
Byron(pained chuckling)
Aye, alright, maybe that.
Catrin(pained chuckling)

Damage absorption
| Damage type | Absorbs | Defence | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physical | 38.3% | 375 | |
| Fire | 24.9% | 200 | |
| Holy | 53.5% | 695 | Toughest |
| Wither | 33.6% | 305 | |
| Magic | 13% | 90 | Weakest |
Magic is spell damage. No weapon deals it — every spell does, whichever school it belongs to — so that row is how well casting works against this enemy, and the other four are what your weapon does.
Lowest absorption is where your damage goes furthest — magic here. The Defence column is the game's own stored value, on the same scale as an armour piece's absorption. The percentage is derived from it as K/(K+defence) with K = 604, a constant solved from three mitigations measured in game rather than read out of a table — so treat it as accurate to a few tenths, not exact.
The rest of this fight
Two phases of one fight. The stigma scene names both Tancred and Reinhold, which is why it was attached to neither page before they were merged.

How to hurt it
- If you swing
- Fire 24.9% absorbed
- If you cast
- Magic 13% absorbed
- Resists
- Holy 53.5% absorbed
Both lines matter whichever way you play. The game gives you two hands for melee and a third slot for casting or a throwable, so most fights use both — and a cast has a wind-up that a crowd at close range will not wait through. Take the number for whatever is in your hand at the time.
Two different things in the swing lane, read together. Slash, blunt and pierce are tags — every weapon deals one of them, and they are not in the table above. The named school is from that table, and it is the lowest of the four a weapon can actually deal: magic is left out of it because no weapon deals magic.
No physical weakness or resistance is tagged on this one either — it takes slash, blunt and pierce the same way, so the school above is the whole answer.
What does not work
No mechanic is ruled out — it can be staggered, backstabbed and Soulflayed.
Least effective: holy 53.5% absorbed
Not a wall — it can be killed with any of these. At 53.5% absorbed you are giving up 41 percentage points against magic, which is the difference between a fight and a long fight.

Status resistance
| Status | Resistance | |
|---|---|---|
| Bleed | 1200 | |
| Poison | 850 | |
| Frostbite | 850 | |
| Smite | 1450 | |
| Burn | 700 | Procs soonest |
| Ignite | 825 | |
| Wither | 200 | Applies on hit |
These are buildup thresholds, not percentages, so they read the opposite way to absorption — a lower number procs sooner. They are comparable between enemies but not against any other figure on the site. The proc itself is a damage event that scales off your own attributes, which is why two players see different numbers from the same status.
Wither sits outside that comparison. It applies on the hit rather than building toward a threshold, so its figure is not measuring the same thing as the other six and is left out of "procs soonest" — otherwise it would win on most enemies in the game and the tag would stop telling you anything.

Its loot row carries no faction code at all, which is true of most bosses and of anything the game never sorted into one. Nothing is inferred from a missing one.
