These are Dark Crusaders. The Ravager belongs to the Dark Crusader order in the game's lore, alongside Paladin , Purger , First Luminary Guardsman , Neophyte and Vanguard . Each has its own place in that story, and Dunmire stocks this one. The order is not the starting class, though. Only the Paladin set is the armor of the Dark Crusader you can play as.

Ravager Gregory's Rosary — A rosary once carried by Ravager Gregory of the Dark Crusaders. Find it and bring it to Dunmire, and the set enters his stock along with the weapon that shares its name.

Hidden lore — revealed in game at high Radiance
While the mission which Gregory and Barros undertook in Mournstead was not official Dark Crusader business, it was a task to which they were utterly devoted despite the dangers: they would find Paxton, or die in the attempt.
The rosary and where it lies are both in the game files. That handing it to Dunmire is what opens his stock is not — every one of his items records no quest condition at all. Confirmed in play rather than read. Verified in game
